GO Riteway Acquires Westlund Bus Lines

GO Riteway Transportation Group is pleased to announce the acquisition of Westlund Bus Lines of Marinette, WI. Westlund Bus Lines provides school bus transportation to the Marinette School District, taxi services for the City of Marinette, and motor coach services for the Northeastern WI region. GO Riteway will officially assume the Westlund operation, including 60 employees and 43 vehicles, on August 22nd. Tom Westlund, owner of Westlund Bus Lines said, “I’m happy to turn over the reins to GO Riteway. We had choices of who to sell our business to and we feel that GO Riteway is a family company that shares our values. I am also confident that they are strong operators and will treat our customers and employees with the same care we have for the last 40 years.”

“Our agreement with Westlund allows for Tom to enjoy a well-earned retirement while continuing to provide his customers with safe, high quality transportation services”, said Wendy Bast, Co-Chair of GO Riteway. “The acquisition also provides a key strategic location for the expansion of GO Riteway operations in northern Wisconsin,” Bast said. “As we have in the past, we plan to retain the employees and welcome them to the GO Riteway family with excellent career opportunities”, she added.

The City of Marinette Mayor, Steve Genisot, added “The City of Marinette looks forward to working with GO Riteway who has acquired Taxi, Inc., a part of Westlund Bus Lines.  We’ve had a great business relationship with the prior owner, Tom Westlund, and we will work with GO Riteway for a smooth transition, keeping the City of Marinette Shared-Ride taxi program going while being supported by City, State and Federal funding, we wish Tom well with his recent business changes and taking a step closer to retirement.”
